The Lost Visit - Queen Elizabeth's Parents in Berlin

Very few of the official histories mention the visit by Queen Elizabeth II's parents - George VI and the Queen Mother to Berlin. I came across a passage in Harold Nicolson's Diaries in 1936 when meeting the Queen Mother (still Duchess of York at that time) she remembered to him their last meeting in Berlin. I was very surprised by this, as I never came across a mention in the official histories of this visit by Royalty to pre-war Germany. Finally I found the earlier entry in Nicolson's diary to their visit, where he lunches with them in Berlin and his favourable impression of the Duchess.

This visit which took place in March 1929, was the first Royal visit to Germany since World War One and took in the palaces of the deposed Kaiser in Potsdam. There were 2 visits as the Yorks on route to a Royal Wedding in Norway took the train and stayed in Berlin on the 2 legs of the journey.

There is nearly no mention in the British Press at the time of this visit and very little since. They took the opportunity to present the Royal calling card with President Hindenburg's office. Since one of the Duke's many dubious aquaintance's included notorius honours trafficker Maundy Gregory who had linked to the Herrenclub, there may have been more to this visit and the York's interest in Right Wing German monarchist circles.

The Truth about the Truth - the 1941 debate

Sir Joseph Ball , despite the death of his patron Neville Chamberlain in October 1940 continued to enjoy access to the corridors of power whilst been kept under close scrutiny by Churchill and his personal intelligence advisor Desmond Morton. Ball was as deputy director of the Security Executive which held ascendancy over MI6, MI5, Scotland Yard , NID and SOE was in a key position at the time of the Rudolf Hess Peace Mission in May 1941 and as Director of the Security Intelligence Centre (SIC) he kept an active hand in monitoring the Fifth Column whilst secretly controlling the Anti-Semitic and Pro-Fascist magazine Truth, which finally came under parliamentary scrutiny in October 1941 when Captain Wedgewood exposed the anti-war, pro-peace and pro-fascist views and it's control by Ball, the National Publicity Bureau and Ultra Right Conservative Chamberlainites like Ball. He stated : "It has now become a public danger. Not only is it perpetually putting forward the policy of peace and reconciliation, and generally the old isolationist policy, but it is also, as it were, the nucleus of the controlled Press which would spring up if this country were successfully invaded.I have to prove that the policy of this paper is dangerous to our war effort. I say that it is pro-Fascist, it is anti-Semite, it is pro-peace, it is anti-Churchill, it is anti-American, it is pro-German, and it is now anti-Russian. On the 9th August 1939 it wrote "The 'Link' is quite open about what it is doing. Many anti-Government propagandists pretend to be actuated by national welfare, but their plan is to push Britain, by hook or by crook, into a war with Germany."
On 14th February, 1940, they said: If peace were concluded with Germany, and there is good reason to believe that it could now be concluded on terms which would satisfy any reasonable person. … Again, on 23rd February they spoke of the peace policy of the B.U.F., that is the British Union of Fascists, before and after the war as the same: Mind Britain's business. It says: Hitler bears close resemblance to Mr. Churchill. That was just a month before the war, at a time when Mr. Churchill was not in a position to influence our policy. Then, after the war: Mr. Churchill added another distinction to his conquest in the course of his speech on the wireless. He is the first man to call the Germans ' Huns.' Again: ''Whenever during the last war Mr. Churchill edified us with a cocksure pronouncement on the progress of hostilities it was always invariably the prelude to a bad reverse.'' On 16th December, 1939, it says: Imagination boggles at Mr. Hore-Belisha and Mr. Winston Churchill wondering a single second over the failure of their Departments to meet their obligations. What they would worry themselves sick about would be if their own salaries were not paid promptly. On 23rd February, 1940, it says: Now that the sound and fury of Mr. Winston Churchill has been hushed awhile "— He was not Prime Minister then— when our Prime Minister quits his post in a middle of a war to cross the Atlantic we expect him to return with something more substantial than even an Eight Point Declaration. The humiliating impression is conveyed of the British Prime Minister standing cap in hand on America's doorstep or gang-plank. That was on 22nd August, 1941. In October, 1939, there was this statement: There is only one man in England who, in Mr. Churchill's reckoning, is fit to govern and that man, of course, as you will guess, is Mr. Churchill. That is the attitude of mind towards not merely a man in office but a man who has put up the best fight for us against the Germans. I now come to the paper's anti-American attitude On 29th September, 1940, they said: America is willing to fight to the last Englishman. On 6th October, 1940, they said: For 18 months Americans have feared any European who stood for peace in Europe. The U.S.A. is fiercely anxious for Europe to 1458 go to war because when Europe is at war, American industry booms. I ask the House to consider not only the effect of all this on our morale but on our relations with other countries. On 3rd November last year it was stated: Germany is not one of the favoured belligerents because she has no money. If that disability were removed America would supply arms to Germany as willingly as to us. On 19th September, this year, the paper said: While one welcomes the Prime Minister's assurance that every effort will be made to secure a peaceful settlement in the Far East, it is imprudent to put oneself into a position where one's life depends on blood transfusion from an expectant and an ambitions heir "— that is America— Even if America is willing to save the patient, what will her fee be? Home consumption is cut down to the bone. This is a decisive moment in a war, into which, if we had been influenced by their importunity, we should have plunged a year earlier when we were more unprepared. On 15th August, 1941, they said: We are glad to co-operate with Americans, not to pull their chestnuts out of the fire. Is this what one would call "helping the war effort"? In connection with the meeting in the Atlantic it was said: I suggest to Mr. Alexander and Mr. Brendan Bracken that the appropriate name for our next battleship to be launched would be H.M.S. Hollywood. There was, as hon. Members know, a moving film taken of the service that took place on board. As to their pro-peace attitude, I will give one quotation, dated 6th October, 1940: The fact which appalled me was the state of mind that had been reached, in which peace itself should be a threat. They know as well as we know that peace would not be peace, but a truce. The basis of all the propaganda against us to-day is that we should be sensible and shake hands with Germany to-morrow, and have our throats cut about five years later. Let me give another quotation to show how they are pro-German. In a reference to the right hon. Gentleman who is now Home Secretary, before he became a Minister, they speak of him as "London's little dictator," and say: London's little dictator suggested to Sir John Anderson that he should watch the people who up to the outbreak of war wanted to strengthen relations with Germany. Mr. Winston Churchill on the Treasury Bench nodded his head in vigorous approval. 1459 On 24th November, 1939, there was a column letter by Major-General Fuller white-washing, German concentration camps by way of counter-blast to the Government's White Paper on German atrocities. Major-General Fuller was connected with Joyce in the Fascist movement. He backed up a book called "The Truth About This War," one of the pacifist publications which came out during the "phoney" war. On 26th July, 1940, there was a leading article insisting on Germany taking her proper place in the leadership of Europe. That was just after France went out of the war. As to their attitude to Russia, here is a quotation dated 8th August, 1941: Let us not deceive ourselves. If Russia does succeed in turning the tables on Germany, it would be she who would issue the invitations to the peace conference and we should be lucky if we got one. I think I have read enough to show even those people who think that "Truth" is the old newspaper they used to read when they were young, that at the present time this newspaper has become a positive danger, and that it is putting over propaganda which is very dangerous to our relations with other countries and dangerous to morale in this country.
I have said all I wanted to say, except that all through these kaleidoscopic changes there appear the figures of Mr. Crocker and Sir Joseph Ball, not as directors of but as connected with "Truth." I understand these people are also on the Swinton Committee. It is improper that people in any sort of way connected with this matter should be on a committee which has the decision as to whether "Truth" should continue to exist. There is a great deal of secrecy about the committee, but if there is any connection between people who are connected with this paper and the Swinton Committee it is bound to create an unsatisfactory feeling throughout the country. I am more anxious to get the attitude of the Swinton Committee towards the Fascists and towards the Jews changed than even to get a change in the editorship of "Truth." That will give us a decent national line, and effective support of this Government. Better that than even to see the paper suppressed."
Both Ball and Crocker had by 1942 resigned from the Security Executive aka Swinton Committee and from directorships of the Truth. Democracy does work if we give a chance bravo Colonel Wedgewood.

Sir Joseph Ball and the MI5 Right Club cover up

When I researched Churchill's Secret Enemy back in 2003, I visited the National Archives (Public Record Office as it was then) and looked at the declassified MI5 file for Right Club Leader Archibald Ramsay. It contained a list of 224 names of Right Club members. I knew that Joseph Ball had secretly met with Archibald Ramsay in June 1939 at the Conservative Carlton Club to discuss Ramsay's fears of a Judeo-Masonic plot against Ball's patron and confidant Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain. Ball submitted a report of the meeting to MI5 but left out an information relating to the associated Right Club organisation the Nordic League. Ball has long been suspected as a member of the Right Club and I was surprised to see that when the Weiner Library published a list of the Right Club members contained in the infamous Red Book, a Ball, JP was listed as the 115th member of the anti-semitic club, following member 114 Ainslee Tait and before member 116 Mr Shipman. On the MI5 list held at Kew , the 115th member was Mr Shipman, following Mr Ainslee Tait, any mention of a Mr Ball was omitted.
A strange cover-up considering that it is probable that Mr JP Ball was not MI5's Sir Joseph Ball but actually Charles JP Ball Stockbroker and member of the Anglo-German Fellowship.
Sir Joseph was far too cany to have his name on the list, instead he kept himself informed by his Right Club representatives Ramsay and Mrs Newnham, wife of his editor Henry Newnham who met with other Far Right Leaders including Ramsay and Mosley secretly in 1939 and 1940.
Curious cover-up but MI5 have very little to say about Ball and with good reason.

The Assassination of Sir Harry Oakes

The Mystery surrounding the 1943 murder of Millionaire Gold Magnate and Tax Exile Sir Harry Oakes remains one of the contraversial events in the history of the Bahamas. It has perplexed some of the most illustrious crime writers and detectives of the 20th Century and still remains unsolved. Now New Evidence have revealed a hitherto unknown role that Sir Harry Oakes played in bankrolling Neville Chamberlain's 1938 Appeasement of Nazi Germany in exchange for his Knighthood, leaving a trail from the Art World's Joseph Duveen through to Neville Chamberlain's Spin Doctor and MI5 Fixer Sir Joseph Ball.

Why Channel 4's 2006 take on the Oakes Murder "Murder in Paradise" got it so wrong

  • De Maringy was framed and was innocent.
  • Oakes was murdered and died face down.
  • He was probably shot in the head and then the body was moved.
  • The murder was a conspiracy as at least two men would be needed to carry oakes from the murder scene to the upstairs room at Westbourne.
  • The head wound was altered by smashing the bullet wound with a sharp triangular instrument.
  • The Oakes murder is one of a series of rich influential appeasers who died in mysterious circumstances during the 1940-43 period.
  • Oakes had secret financial connections to appeasers in London and New York via Art Trader Lord Duveen - linking people such as Henry Ford, Sir Joseph Ball and the Duke of Windsor.
  • The Channel 4 documentary makes no mention of Maringy's own belief that the Duke of Windsor murdered Oakes - as outlined in the 1988 Book - Conspiracy of Crowns.
  • The Documentary ignores FBI evidence naming Oakes Lawyer Walter Foskett as a suspect.
  • The Film ignores the Duke's close dealings in the Bahamas and Mexico with a cabal of Pro-Nazi businessmen such as Swede Axel Wenner Gren and a shadowy group of Texas Oil men which included Paul Getty who supported and made money from the Nazis.
  • No explanation has ever be made for Sir Harry Oakes missing revolver which he kept by his bed.
  • The Duke of Windsor consistently feared assasination by MI6 and had a detachment of Royal Marines to ensure that he would not be taken alive by a possible Nazi kidnap plot which was feared following the arrival of Hess in Britain.

Churchill's Secret Enemy

JOSEPH BALL - MI5 SPY & APPEASEMENT'S FIXER

Major Sir George Joseph Ball (1885-1961) Confidant and Political Advisor to British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain 1937-1940. He was headhunted out of career with the British Security Service MI5 to become Deputy of Publicity with Conservative Central Office in 1927 and then Director of the Conservative Research Department 1930-45. Ball secretly operated agents in the British Labour and Liberal Party headquarters, activities described by a retired MI6 Officer in the London Times as Britain's Watergate. He covertly controlled an anti-jewish journal called Truth used to character assassinate Chamberlain's opponents such as Winston Churchill and Anthony Eden. Ball whilst working at MI5 was responsible for the publication of the forged Zinoviev Letter derived from MI6 intelligence leaked in breach of the Official Secrets Act and published through the activities of ex-MI5 officer Donald im Thurn. The Letter led to the defeat of Britain's First Labour Government at the polls in 1924 and the destruction of the British Liberal Party (as a party of government reducing a national party with 159 MPs to a rump of 40 MPs) with the unseating of Liberal ex-Prime Minister Herbert Asquith. The Letter led to a massive Conservative landslide, Ball was responsible for covert operations against the trade unions in the General Strike in 1926 and was shortly after employed by the Conservative Party. Ball was responsible for the cover-up of the role of the intelligence agencies and conservatives in the Zinoviev Letter publication, preventing the truth about the story reaching the media in 1928, 1931 and 1956. His Private papers reveal that he purchased Im Thurn's letters after the latters death in 1930,and that he had also obtained im Thurn's journal which was also found in his papers. Having persuaded Guy Kindersley from publishing his book on the affair in 1956, the truth emerged in the 1966 Sunday Times investigation which demonstrated the letter was forged. This was upheld in a secret MI5 report by Millicent Bagot in 1970 following a 3 year investigation and kept out of the public domain for 29 years until the Bennett Report of 1999 proved the letter was after all a forgery and named Ball as one of the serving intelligence officers implicating in it's illegal publication. Joseph Ball then went on to mastermind the Maundy Gregory Honours scandal cover-up in 1933, and made arrangments for Gregory be spirited to France after his brief imprisonment to live the high hog in Paris on secret funds. Ball was a key figure in the 1930's appeasement of Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy. He sponsored a series of covert backchannels to Nazi and Fascist Leadership figures. Ball arranged for a British Maltese Lawyer named Adrian Dingli who he knew from Grays Inn since 1912 to advice the Italian Embassy in London and become a link to Fascist Italian Ambassador Count Dino Grandi. He sponsored the Conservative MP Henry Drummond-Wolff to visit Herman Goering in Berlin in a succession of visits from 1937 to 1939. With the arrival of the Second World War these links continued with a meeting of pro-peace peers at the Duke of Westminster's London residence to support a negotiated peace with Nazi Germany. Whilst Dingli was despatched to Rome in 1940 on a secret mission to Mussolini. When Dingli attempted to publish details of his mission, his book was seized by MI5 under the OSA. In a chilling letter to leading appeaser Samuel Hoare in the 1950's BAll described how MI5 dealt with him in the usual manner and described how Dingli shot himself after being investigated for alleged financial embezzlement. Ball was an acquaintance of James Bond writer Ian Fleming and whilst at MI5 had been the Boss to the legendary "M" - the MI5 officer Maxwell Knight. Ball maintained a strong working relationship with pro-appeasement Press Baron Lord Kemsley who was an important sponsor of Fleming's career at the Sunday Times. Ball had been a key adviser to Neville Chamberlain in the events running up to "Plan Z" the strategy to arrange for the aging Prime Minister to surprise the world by flying to Germany to meet with Hitler in person. As a political fixer, dirty tricks expert, spin doctor and a master in black propaganda Ball orchestrated the secret campaign against Winston Churchill's attempt to resist appeasement. He coordinated the campaign via Conservative Central Office to see Churchill deselected in his Epping Constituency follow the latters brave and unpopular opposition to Munich. He arranged for a smear campaign in 1939 which effectively blocked Churchill's entry to the cabinet prior to september 1939 which might have sent the clear signal of British intend to resist Nazi aggression. He boasted to Munich rebel Ronald Tree that he had bugged his telephone. In June 1939 Ball met with the anti-semitic Right Club leader Archibald Ramsay at the Carlton club to hear evidence of a supposed Judeo-Masonic Conspiracy against Neville Chamberlain and invited Ramsay to collect further evidence which in 1940 led to White Russian German Spy Anna Wolkoff using American Diplomat Tyler Kent to spy on Churchill's secret communications with US President Franklin Roosevelt. Wolkoff and Ramsay were interned under the DR I8B legislation dealing with British Faccists whilst Tyler Kent was imprisoned by the USA. Ball's anti-semitic editor of Truth, Henry Newnham attended clandestine pro-peace meetings with far right figures such as Ramsay, Admiral Domvile and Oswald Mosley but but escaped internment and prosecution. After the Fall of Chamberlain in May 1940, Ball was appointed at Chamberlain's insistance on the Home Defence Security Executive as Deputy Chairman under appeaser Lord Swinton in opposition to Winston Churchill's wishes. Ball was given overarching supervision of both MI5 and MI6 following the dismissal of MI5 founder Sir Vernon Kell by Churchill. He exerted dominance through his Chairmanship of the Secuity Intelligence Centre and saw the appointment of his friend Sir William Crocker causing alarm in MI5. Churchill was furious when he learned of Ball's appointment and alarmed that Ball be placed in a senior position to the heads of MI5 and MI6. Swinton was ready to cancel the appointment but Churchill was not in a position to refuse and minuted his Personal Intelligence Advisor Desmond Morton "Say I agree" He however ensured that Morton attend every meeting to keep a close eye on Ball, "watching in your interests". In Berlin, the Pro-Nazi Renegade William Joyce, AKA Lord Haw-Haw was receiving clandestine intelligence from the Right Club's Anna Wolkoff that "Truth, this is only free newspaper, circulation bounding, editor fearless,anti-war monger and lie exposer, big man behind paper, no fear ruin". Ball was preparing to resign his position to move into open opposition to Churchill's government, offering to do so in correspondance with Neville Chamberlain when his patron, now Lord President fell ill with Cancer.
1941 saw Ball uniquely positioned to continue his anti-Churchill stance, and his sacked old Boss Vernon Kell holds the curious position of being the first wartime diariest to record Nazi Deputy Rudolf Hess's dramatic arrival in Scotland, on the day it happened, 3 days before the news was made public. Onetime Conservative MP, The Duke of Hamilton a key figure in the events was known to Ball and may have met with Ball and Horace Wilson in Wiltshire on or around May 18th.

Source FR3K The Secret Murder of Liberal England

The Zinoviev Letter Election Fraud - The British Conspiracy Revealed

The British General Election of 1924 still remains some 80+ years later as the major political watershed marking the boundary from from the Liberal-Tory power struggle of the nineteenth century which saw the victory of progressive politics with the dominance of the liberals to that of modern Labour-Conservative battleground which saw the dominance of the forces of reaction and the victory of Conservatism in the twentieth century. The 1924 Election was remarkable for the momentous dramatic shift of support of Liberal Middle England away from the traditional progressive politics of Liberalism to the veiled reactionary politics of the Conservative Party disguised as moderation in the personified dull solid middle english character of Stanley Baldwin.

The Greatest media manipulation in election history was the product of an intelligence led black propaganda operation which saw a media frenzy created by the publication of MI6 Intelligence derived from a forged letter alleged to have been sent to the British Communists from Moscow Commissar Gregori Zinoviev - the head of Commintern. The Daily Mail published four days before polling and wrong-footed the incumbent first Labour Government in British History. The Red Scare fueling a middle class panic about a secret communist plot in the armed forces being aided and abetted by socialists in government and fueled by an unprecedented unquestioning media campaign panicked millions of liberal voters away from their natural inclinations leading to a massive election landslide for the Conservative Party and the defeat of Britain's first Labour Government. Thus ended the most volatile and unstable period of modern politics which had in a two year period from 1922-24 seen four Prime Ministers, three Governments and three General Elections in 1922, 1923 and 1924.
The Daily Mail exclusive of the infamous letter, not written or sent by Zinoviev's hand remained an accepted example of communist subversion in all but left wing circles until 1966 when an investigation by the award winning Sunday Times Insight Team of Lewis, Chester, Fay and Hugo Young discovered evidence of a forgery and conspiracy which was hotly contested by the British Government. Their research remained a subject of historical controversy until 1999 when an official FCO investigation and report by Dr Gill Bennett Chief FCO Historian confirmed the letter was forged. This was despite the fact that famous MI5 officer Millicent Bagot had concluded the same in her unpublished classified report in 1970 which followed a 2 year internal investigation.
In March 2003 while researching private papers of a leading MI5 officer of the period I came across startling new evidence which not only confirmed the intelligence conspiracy but also highlighted the lengths to which rogue elements in the intelligence services in conjunction with right wingers in the conservative party went to prevent the truth reaching the British Media. The cover up lasted from 1924 to 1956 and beyond before the Sunday Times breached the elaborate steps taken to remove documents from circulation.

Documents which led me on a trail of discovery to question whether the 1999 Bennett Report had brought into the public domain the full story. In a meeting at the FCO I was briefed that whilst as the late Robin Cook told the House of Commons the identity of the source who provided the MI6 intelligence on the Zinoviev Letter which proved to fake was not known by MI6, internal files did disclose the codename of this suspect source known to be a White Russian was revealed to be “source K” and run by MI6 Officer in Riga codenamed FR3. In the Bennett report neither the names of MI6 Station Chief with overall responsibility nor the intelligence officer responsible for the letter source who I can now identify as FR3 could be named for “operational reasons” obviously continuing the long held but widely breached policy of protecting MI6 agents and sources however long dead those involved. In the published diaries of the first head of MI6 Admiral Mansfield Cumming “C” - he wrote an organisation tree of officers and agents across the world and their codenames. In 1923 in Riga he lists the head of station as FR0, his deputy as FR3 and a FR9.
The question of whether the 1999 Bennett Report was an attempt by MI6 to placate the new 1997 Labour Government who held the Zinoviev Letter forgery as a sacred cow of dirty tricks against the Labour movement is an interesting one. The researches by British and Russian historians into the KGB archives was beginning to turn up material which exonerated the soviets and pointed the finger at the British. This material was published by Nigel West and Oleg Tsarev before the Bennett Report was commissioned by Cook in 1997 following questions in parliament by investigative Liberal Democrat MP Norman Baker. I established that Robin Cook had prompted the question - which suggests that while Robin Cook and Norman Baker were interested in the truth perhaps civil servants were interested in pre-empting the “Crown Jewels” and ring fencing MI6’s role in the affair. The question is why the FCO and MI6 continue to withhold information from the public and parliament some 8 years after the end of the cold war and some 75 years after the affair. This against a 75 year background of disinformation, obscuration, cover-up and deception.
The major result of the fall of the liberal party in England was the banishment of the liberals from government -leading to 80 years of complete political under-representation in over 22 elections. In simple terms, the liberals were pushed off the electoral cliff and have been endlessly trying to scrabble up into government in a heroic vain series of revivals. Imagine if every year the government burned 60% of Liberal democrat voting papers in the streets. Yet since the 1924 electoral watershed over 60 million of the 79 million votes have been effectively stolen by the first past the post system. In the 1983 General election 6.7 million of the 7.7 votes for the alliance were lost in this way, whilst in the 1974 election 89% of the liberal vote was wasted. In my own life, I have voted in every election since 1983 and yet never elected anyone. I have the right to vote but not to choose or to have my vote count. This is the undemocratic legacy of the Zinoviev Letter and the Intelligence Conspiracy behind it which still remains subject to a partial cover-up.

Assassination disguised as suicide or accident

As 2008 draws nearer this blog seeks to highlight little known evidence behind events in the 1920-60 period which give echoes of similar occurrences in the recent period which have become the focus of active conspiracy theories surrounding extrajudicial killings of prominent persons which have been considered by many as accidents, suicides or onset of rapid illness. Viz Princess Diana, Dr David Kelly.

The investigation into the personal papers of an ex-MI5 officer highlight previously unknown links between the Murder of gold millionaire Sir Harry Oakes in the Bahamas in 1943, the campaign against honours trafficker Maundy Gregory, the suicide of his London representative in the same year and the suicide of an British Intelligence backchannel to Mussolini in 1945 in London.

The ex-MI5 officer noted to his ex-MI6 colleague that the Italian had been handled by MI5 in the usual way and then committed suicide while being investigated for financial embezzlement.
